Xinghuo Yu PhD, IEEE Fellow, FIEAust

Professor Xinghuo Yu is the Director of the Platform Technologies Research Institute of RMIT (Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology) University, Melbourne, Australia.  He is also Professor of Information Systems Engineering in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering. Professor Yu’s research interests include variable structure and nonlinear control, complex and intelligent system, industrial information technologies. He has published over 350 refereed papers in technical journals, books and conference proceedings as well as co-edited 10 research books.

Professor Yu served as an Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems Part I (2001-2004) and IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics (2005-2008), and is serving as an Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics and several other scholarly journals. He has been on the program committees of many international conferences, and co-chaired several international conferences. Professor Yu was the sole recipient of the 1995 Central Queensland University Vice Chancellor's Award for Research, and was made Emeritus Professor of Central Queensland University Australia in 2002 for his long-term contributions.  He is also a Chang Jiang Scholar Endowed Chair Professor (长江学者讲座教授) appointed by the Ministry of Education of China. 

Professor Yu is Vice-President (Planning and Development) of IEEE Industrial Electronics Society for 2010.  He is an IEEE Distinguished Lecturer, a Fellow of the IEEE, and a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers Australia (IEAust).
